Mom, Felicia and Dad, Mitch, waiting for Cookie's arrival at the airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Hubba hubba, look at Cookie's new mom!
Sherry,
When Cookie got off the plane she was cool and collected as a young lady should be! Thanks, Mitch
Cookie left Shefaro and moved right in to her new home. Here's what Daddy, Mitch, has to say about her two days after Cookie's arrival:
August 26, 2003
"Sherry,
We have a very good girl over here! Cookie has learned to walk on a lead
and to do her business outside! We have had NO accidents and she already
knows the routine. What a good girl!
How many eggs is too many? I usually give her one in the morning and one
later in the afternoon, but she likes them so much I was thinking they
would make a great reward.
Last night we sat home after dinner watching the big TV with Cookie on
my lap (I know - softie!), She actually watches the TV! She is
definitely a people dog. She hasn't figured out how to go up and down
the stairs yet, but she did get halfway up all by herself. I am sure she
will figure it out soon.
She has a strange attraction for bathtubs. She sticks her nose and paws
over the rim to peer inside as if to say "What - no water in here yet!"
Its time to teach her to swim! Gently of course, but I am sure she will
be a great student.
It was raining heavily this morning when we had to go out, but she went
without an argument and did her business in lees than 5 minutes - I am
almost in awe at her ability to learn. You must have done something very
right in your early upbringing of the pups. I have never had a dog with
such unique capabilities at this age - she will be very easy to train.
We went out for about an hour last night with Felicia taking the lead
and practicing her show gait. Cookie does not side
wind or bounce, she has a very even gait with good fluid motion - this
is going to be FUN!
The vet was very impressed with Cookie's temperament and I reminded him
of the fact that good breeding has distinct focus on not only breed
standard conformation, but also temperament and disposition. He had been
our vet for our Greyhound also, so he knew what I look for in our dogs,
he just had never seen this in a dog so young.
Overall we are thrilled with her and now I wish we had more room so that
we could have more Borzoi. Well maybe in the future we will be able to
move into a place with more room. Oh, by the way, this is good, Felicia
now wants to keep Cookie in our bedroom at night, on her own little bed!
This is a large departure for her as she has previously prohibited the
dogs from the bedroom! I have never had a problem with the dogs sleeping
on their own bed in the bedroom, but Felicia seems to have quite an
attraction to Cookie! Cookies ears perk up whenever Felicia talks to
her. Last night Felicia taught Cookie to sit for her treats! Not bad!
More Later,
Mitchel K. Baum"

Sherry,
Sorry we have not written for so long, we have been busy with the new grandson (our first).
Cookie is doing just wonderful as she is all grown up now.
Take a look ,she is just gorgeous! I can’t tell you how very smart she is. Felicia thinks she is almost human!
Miss “Cookie” is NOT interested!
But here she is , all grown up!
