Cruiser
A fairy tale come true.
Cruiser is pictured after leaving Shefaro to go to his new home in Blountsville, Alabama. He was born June 25, 1999 and was owned by Dr. Elizabeth Miller where he lived with friends, Carole, Elia's Guillermo and Blondie also on this web page.
Cruiser is Shefaro's first Borzoi that has learned to drive a car. He will be getting his driver's license when he comes of age!
Great conformation - a potential show boy.
As a young dog, Cruiser was cared for by his former owner. But for the past three years, he was allowed to get FAT - 132 pounds - matted and full of ticks. Here he is after being removed from his former owner's property along with three other Shefaro Borzoi , Blondie, Carole and Guillermo. His face was badly sunburned or bitten by insects and the vets say he would not have made it through another summer in Alabama.
This is Cruiser going to his new home with his new Mom, Theresa. It was love at first sight and this is a fairy tale come true. Cruiser, Blondie, Carole and Guillermo were worked to bring down their weights, as well as numerous tick dips, bathing, mega amounts of brushing, carefully removing mats rather than shaving the dogs down, and conditioning these poor Borzoi that were evidently just collectors items at the hands of their former owner. Cruiser still needs to lose weight, but he is now tick free, clean and happy. What a difference a month makes.

Sherry,
I took Cruiser to the vet for his checkup. He weighs in at 114 pounds, by this vet's scale. He got his rabies shot and heart worm preventive. We also got some medicine for ear mites and flea prevention. The vet checked his heart and found no arrythmeias. Cruiser was so good for the vet. This is the vet who treated Kashmir for 16 years and Kashmir (Afghan) always tried to bite him, so the vet was most impressed by Cruiser's good behavior.
Cruiser sends his love.

He's adjusted to my schedule very well. I adore him and he knows it. At night before we go to bed, I usually sit on the floor with him and we have our quality time for the day. He has gotten so used to this that if I'm working late and lose track of the time, he'll come to the dining room and get me. He is a delight!
Last night I put his pet tab in a dish on the dresser and before I could give it to him, he took the dish in his mouth, put the dish on the floor and took the pet tab out and ate it.
